Situation

Apricot Inc., a large tech corporation, conducted surveys revealing a decline in staff happiness and well-being, particularly in the area of "personal duty and purpose" since 2020. In response, the company sought to introduce mindfulness practices as part of its Wellness program to improve overall well-being.

Task

As part of the Learning and Development team, the task was to create a micro-course that promotes mindfulness to beginners. The course needed to be concise, effective, and aligned with Apricot’s goal of fostering "well-being from within" for various staff types.

Action

Planning and Development:

  • Participated in weekly Production Planning Meetings (PPMs) to align with key stakeholders, understand existing offerings, and chart the direction for the mindfulness course.

  • Assessed existing resources, such as the Ten Percent app, to identify gaps in promotion and usage.

  • Gathered knowledge on mindfulness, its benefits, and best practices for implementation in the workplace.

Course Design:

  • Scripted and revised content through iterative reviews to ensure it met both the time constraints (10-minute course with a 5-minute guided meditation) and the needs of the audience.

  • Utilized MurfAI, Audacity, Adobe Character Animator, and Stable Diffusion to create engaging multimedia resources, including a character (Chloe) to guide the meditation session and visually appealing backgrounds.

Implementation:

  • Developed the course using Articulate Storyline, ensuring it was user-friendly, brief, and effective in teaching mindfulness practices.

  • Incorporated my voice and AI-generated audio to deliver clear and consistent messaging throughout the course.

  • Structured the course to allow flexibility for learners to start and end the meditation session as needed.

Result

The course was successfully launched, receiving positive feedback from initial participants for its accessibility and clarity. Projections based on early feedback indicate a 9% improvement in "personal duty and purpose" scores, suggesting the course’s potential to positively impact staff well-being at Apricot Inc.
